Evan & Anne | Savannah Georgia Wedding | Featured at Style Me Pretty

May 16, 2012

“‘We could be a holiday, we could be a celebration, we could be a whole parade.’” She quoted Sandol Stoddard Warburg’s children’s book in her vows. “I am so ready to be all of those things together.”

I could see Anne at five years of age, at eight, at twelve, a little girl imagining her wedding day, making a holiday out of it. On one perfect spring day in Savannah, she was living everything she’d envisioned, from the pink to the lace to the sweet love between her and the man of her dreams.

All of her life bubbled up and over as she invited everyone into her beautiful, and as I watched them, I knew why Evan and Anne fit together. She made him laugh; he made her fall in love – it’s exactly the way a love story should be written, and exactly the way it played out for this couple whose wedding was only the beginning of the most lovely tomorrows.

Anne, Evan, thank you for inviting me to witness your “whole parade” – it was worth every second, and I’m not just saying that. Your wedding will be one I keep in my heart for a long time.

I’m beyond excited that this gorgeous wedding got to be featured at Style Me Pretty | Georgia today – If you want to see more of Anne’s beautiful details, just visit SMP! We got a gallery!

A Girl in the White Dress Wedding

February 16, 2012

The Girl in the White Dress is planning an intimate, deeply personal wedding. She’s invited only a few people – close friends and family who know her well and know her real. She wants her day to be as relaxed as possible so that she can enjoy every minute of it.

She wants a scenic outdoor wedding – or a wedding in a venue that lets all the light in. She wants sunlit wedding photos and a fresh, natural look for her creative, classy details, so most of her photography will take place between 8:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

She isn’t bound to tradition – she wants her wedding to be unique. She uses natural elements and a simple, surprising color palette to create a charming, welcoming atmosphere for her day.

Her day in the white dress will be the most beautiful day of her life, and she wants to remember it with all the sweetness of all the dreams that she poured into it.

From the Photographer:

I make an effort to spend time with every bride before her wedding to find out what she is dreaming, building a relationship that allows me to attend the wedding as a friend and advocate. I look at her Pinterest boards and inspiration, talk about how to schedule the day to get the best photos possible, and offer support for the things that are most important to her.

I like to arrive early at the wedding venue, scout potential shoot locations, and capture early moments with the bride and groom. I highly recommend a “first look” session once the bride is dressed to give my couples an hour or so just for them and to minimize the photo time between the ceremony and reception. At weddings, I shoot a documentary style with an editorial eye, looking both for real moments and for fine art details to capture the essence of the day.

My focus is always on the heart of the couple and their love for one another. My goal is to produce and deliver images that communicate the most meaningful elements of the day.

Editorial: Southern Autumn & Charm, Part II

September 25, 2011

This is the second part of my Southern Autumn & Charm shoot, when I got to really get down with Bruce and Rachel and enjoy the way they love each other. We did this shoot as a gift for their second anniversary, and I have to say – I loved them in love. They weren’t just boyfriend and girlfriend, they were all out married, and unafraid to act like it. I’m six years married, and they had me blushing at the beautiful intimacy they shared!

We had live oaks, a dock, a river, a red umbrella, and a joggling board (classic, CLASSIC Low Country!) – and once Rachel put that hat on and started sashaying for my camera, the REAL shoot was on. I didn’t stop until I had to, when we ran out of light as the mother of all thunderstorms rolled in.

Editorial: Southern Autumn & Charm, Part I

September 25, 2011

My friend Rachel came over to help out with my kids when I started my treatment this summer, and while I was stuck on the couch with my laptop, we hatched a plan to put together a full styled shoot. I’d been wanting to do photos for her since she and her husband, Bruce, were married two years ago. I attended that wedding seven months pregnant.

We finally nailed down a date for the shoot – less than a week out. There wasn’t really time to round up vendors, so we made a DIY backyard wedding. We wanted a charming, casual sort of story, so we created a tiny reception in Bruce’s back yard, followed by a bride/groom picnic at the dock down by the river behind his home. I designed and created the jewelry and florals, and Rachel provided food.

Wedding: Ben & Allie

August 6, 2011

I don’t know if it was driving through all that lovely North Carolina country getting to this wedding, if it was using the camera and the surf as my coffee on the morning of this wedding, if it was the way it thought about raining and didn’t – but something about Ben and Allie’s wedding came together more than any other wedding I’ve ever shot.

Ben and Allie knew they were meant for each other from the very first time they met, when Allie was in eighth grade. They spoke the same language, and they fell in love talking. Their love is an easy love, one that speaks of comfort and familiarity, that let the two of them walk into their day and spend it with those who loved them. I got to meet them here in Charleston for their engagement session in June, and when I saw them again at their wedding, they both warmly welcomed me into their lives for the day.

Wedding: Kent & Leeann

March 27, 2011

Some brides get to their wedding day and they’re not quite sure yet what they are doing. Some grooms just haven’t quite made their heart-home with their brides yet. Some parents just aren’t ready to let their children go. Everyone comes into wedding days with their own expectations, and it is rare to have all the expectations culminate in a perfect blend of giving and love.

But rare or not, this is the wedding Kent and Leeann had. Or shared. They invited their closest friends and family to be with them for their destination wedding at the Junípero Serra Museum in Presidio Park, San Diego, and it was one of those perfect wedding days that had just enough room for everyone and a bit of extra room for a whole lotta happy.
